Zenit, Dynamo, Sochi and CSKA will appeal against the removal of Russia from European competitions to CAS
MOSCOW, May 13 – CSKA Moscow and Dynamo Moscow, Zenit St. Petersburg and Sochi have filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the decision of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to remove Russian football clubs from European competitions, the teams reported on their official websites.
CSKA, Zenit, Sochi and Dynamo filed an appeal with the Lausanne Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the UEFA decision of May 2, 2022 to remove Russian clubs from European competitions. All clubs have requested an expedited consideration of the complaint. We expect that sports principle will be respected.
On May 2, due to the situation in Ukraine, the UEFA Executive Committee suspended Russian football and futsal clubs from European competitions for the 2022/23 season, and men’s and women’s football and futsal teams from participating in European competitions.
