North Korean Paralympians to miss Asian Games due to ban on flying flag

MOSCOW, 17 Oct – North Korean athletes will not participate in the Asian Paralympic Games due to a ban on competing under the national flag.
In 2021, the DPRK Anti-Doping Agency was found to be non-compliant with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) code, which resulted in a ban on competing under the national flag. The Asian Paralympic Games will be held in Hangzhou, China from October 22 to 28.
At the Asian Games, which took place in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8, about 200 North Korean athletes came and competed under their own flag. As a result of the competition, the DPRK national team won 39 medals, 11 of which were gold, 18 silver and 10 bronze. Inside the Games previously reported that WADA sent a letter to the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) at the end of September, warning about the need to comply with the anti-doping code and possible sanctions that may follow in connection with the violation.
