During the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 final at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri made noteworthy remarks. The match pitted Delhi Capitals (DC) against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), with DC seeking redemption against Smriti Mandhana’s RCB.

Shastri observed the enthusiastic support for Mandhana and highlighted the aggressive play of DC’s openers against RCB’s bowlers. He singled out RCB’s Virat Kohli and DC’s Rishabh Pant, suggesting that the match outcome would influence their respective men’s teams.

Meanwhile, Kohli returned to India ahead of IPL 2024 after missing the India vs. England Test series for personal reasons. He is set to join RCB for their opening match against Chennai Super Kings on March 22. Pant is also nearing a return to action following a car accident in December 2022.

In the WPL 2024 final, DC’s opener Shafali scored a quick 44 off 27 balls, supported by captain Lanning’s 23 off 23 balls. However, RCB’s Sophie Molineux’s three quick wickets, including Verma, Rodrigues, and Capsey, led to DC’s collapse, ending with a score of 113, bolstered by Shreyanka Patil’s four-wicket haul.
