In early August, rumors began circulating that a Saudi Pro League club had made a massive offer to buy Vinícius Júnior.

The reported $1 billion offer caused quite a stir in the football world. It was said that the Brazilian winger quickly turned down the enormous proposal.

Vinícius, a star player for Real Madrid, did not want to surrender himself to money while at the peak of his career. Though the news initially seemed like a rumor, it has now been confirmed to be true.
This confirmation came from Al-Ahli’s president, Al-Essa, who stated that Al-Ahli was indeed interested in Vinícius but had to drop the pursuit due to complications.
In a recent interview, Al-Essa said, “We had the intention of bringing in a top-tier winger. Our target was Real Madrid’s Vinícius. However, some unexpected issues arose during negotiations. One of them was the possibility of striker Firas Al-Buraikan leaving the club to pursue a scholarship program, which led us to shift our priority from a winger to a striker. As a result, we started negotiating with Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen. Ultimately, Toney’s signing resolved the situation.”

Later, Firas decided not to pursue the scholarship program and stayed with the club, which left the striker position filled but created a gap on the wing. Al-Essa mentioned that despite the extra striker, they still need to fill the winger position and are determined to sign a top winger in the winter transfer window.

He added, “Since Firas Al-Buraikan stayed with us, the wing position remains vacant. We will continue to work on strengthening this area.”
