Houston traded Porter, accused of assaulting girlfriend, to Oklahoma

MOSCOW, 17 Oct – The National Basketball Association (NBA) Houston Rockets have traded Kevin Porter, accused of assaulting his girlfriend, and two second-round draft picks to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Victor Oladipo and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
Porter was arrested on September 11 in a New York hotel room on charges of assaulting his girlfriend, ex-basketball player Kaiza Gondrezick. According to the prosecution, the girl suffered a fracture of the cervical vertebra and a deep cut above her right eye. Porter has pleaded not guilty to assault.
According to the source, after the trade, Oklahoma City will immediately cut Porter. According to CBS, the deal allows Houston to remove Porter’s salary from the roster while Oklahoma gets rid of its roster overload.
Porter is 23 years old. He was selected 30th overall in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks and was traded to the Detroit Pistons and then the Cleveland Cavaliers. Before last season, Porter signed a four-year, $82.5 million contract with the Rockets.
