Bundesliga club suspends footballer for supporting Palestine

MOSCOW, 17 Oct – The German football club Mainz has suspended Dutch midfielder Anwar El Ghazi from games and training due to the player’s social media post supporting Palestine, the club’s official website reports.
Mainz acknowledged that there are different points of view on the Middle East conflict, but the club distances itself from the content of the player’s post as it contradicts the team’s values.
Earlier, the management of Bayern Munich had a conversation with the defender of the team and the Moroccan national team, Noussair Mazraoui, about the player’s post on social networks in support of Palestine. In addition, the Algerian footballer of the French “Nice” Youssef Atal had to apologize for publishing a video in support of Palestine.
